How to Speed Up Mobile Data and Increase Internet Speed

Do you want to speed up the internet on your phone so it works two or even three times faster? In this guide, I'm going to show you how to speed up mobile data and increase internet speed by making a few simple changes to your phone settings.

In the first part of this guide, we’ll focus on improving the Wi-Fi connection, and in the second part, we’ll enhance mobile internet performance. 

How to Speed Up Mobile Data and Increase Internet Speed

Check Your Internet Speed

Before making any changes, it's essential to check your current internet speed for comparison. Follow these steps:

1. Open your browser and search "internet speed test" on Google.
2. Choose any site to test your speed (I won’t recommend a specific one).
3. Note down your current speed for reference.

For instance, my Wi-Fi speed was 14 Mbps before making the adjustments. Now, let’s work on improving that!

Improving Your Wi-Fi Connection

To increase internet speed, follow these steps:

1. Go to your phone’s main settings and tap on "Connections."
2. Select "Wi-Fi," then tap the gear icon next to your current Wi-Fi network.
3. Tap "View More" or "Advanced" and scroll down to "IP Settings."
4. Change the "IP Settings" option to "Static."
5. Update the DNS settings as follows:
   • DNS 1: 8.8.8.8
   • DNS 2: 8.8.4.4
6. Tap "Save" to apply these changes.

Once done, restart your phone. After restarting, check your internet speed again. For instance, after making these changes, my Wi-Fi speed increased to 50 Mbps!

If you have a second phone, follow similar steps:

1. Head to "Settings," then "Wi-Fi."
2. Tap the arrow next to your Wi-Fi network, scroll down, and update the DNS settings as mentioned earlier.
3. Save the changes and restart your phone.

Enhancing Mobile Internet Performance

Mobile internet can often be slower and less stable. To speed up mobile data, here’s what you can do:

1. Open your phone’s main settings and use the search bar to find "Access Point Names".
2. Tap on "Access Point Names" and select the one for your internet connection.
3. Scroll down to "Authentication Type."

You’ll find two options here: PAP and CHAP. Depending on your phone model, location, and mobile carrier, one of these options will work better for you.

• Start by selecting "PAP" and test your internet speed.
• Then, switch to "CHAP" and test again.
• Then, switch to "None" and test again.
• Stick with the option that gives you faster internet.

For instance, in my case, selecting "None" improved my internet speed significantly.
